Virginia Space Grant Consortium, Hampton, VA.
The position maintains and provides budget/financial information and processing to management to aid in decision making for a non-profit organization with annual budgets averaging $4.5 million. The accountant reports directly to the Director of the Virginia Space Grant Consortium and will work closely with program managers and project coordinators. It is expected that the ideal candidate will have at a minimum three to five years of experience.
Key duties and responsibilities include: -
- Conducting periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy.
- Recording cash receipts and expenses and performing monthly reconciliations of accounts to ensure project budgets are tracked correctly.
- Preparing quarterly budget reports.
- Preparing annual budget report to NASA.
- Developing fiscal reports for sponsoring organizations.
- Tracking costing trends and establishing budget projection reports.
- Establishing and maintaining payroll allocations and expenditures.
- Preparing sponsor and partner invoices and ensuring receivables are collected promptly.
- Performing detailed ad-hoc financial analyses to assist in decision making by management.
The Virginia Space Grant Consortium was founded in 1988 and is based at the Old Dominion University Higher Education Center in Hampton, VA. The Consortium, which is part of NASA’s Space Grant program, focuses on science, technology and engineering education, workforce development and research.
