ACCOUNTS ANALYST / ACCOUNTANT I * (260 DAYS - 8 HOURS PER DAY)
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and over four (4) years of experience in accounting, finance or related area; an equivalent combination of training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position may be substituted for the specific educational and experience requirements.
Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of double entry accounting and bookkeeping systems and general accounting procedures.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with administrators, technicians, and support staff.
Must be skilled in the use of various technology including MS Office required.
DUTIES: The duties include but are not limited to:
- Analyzes and monitors balances in all funds with emphasis on capital and bond funds;
- Reports activity and budget variances in revenue and expenditure accounts;
- Monitors and projects fund balances in all funds;
- Maintains spreadsheet of all fund source allocations and grants;
- Prepares and reports cash flow analysis;
- Monitors, analyzes and reports local revenue;
- Monitors, analyzes and reports financial aspects of e-Rate
- Reviews various program plans and monitors/compares account activity to plan and balance to budget prior to submission;
- Reconciles capital fund activity and balances between Facilities Division records and general ledger;
- Analyzes and maintains energy accounting database including usage and cost;
- Reconciles insurance claims account;
- Serves as project leader for LEAPS schedule in collaboration with Human Resources and Payroll.
- Monitors and prepares long term debt schedule;
- Compiles data for annual arbitrage calculations on all bond issues;
- Compiles data and prepares Annual Report-Continuing Disclosure Statement;
- Verifies financial data for SDE Report Card and other publications as needed;
- Monitors legislative issues that pertain to education;
- Maintains Business Division Web Pages;
- Publishes, updates Business Division Procedure Manual;
- Works directly with budget on special projects and other requirements;
- Prepares financial and other presentations for the Business Division;
- Creates and maintains Access reports of data extracted from the NextGen software
- Other assignments as determined by Supervisor;
STARTING SALARY: SCT-04
