POSITION: Human Resources Generalist
SALARY: Starting rate $28.74 per hour
(Salary determined from the Confidential Employees Memorandum of Understanding)
ASSIGNMENT: Administration Center
HOURS: 8 hours per day – 12 month position
CLOSING DATE: September 29, 2022
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or Business and one (1) year of full time paid human resources experience in a
professional office setting; OR
B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of full-time paid human resources experience in a professional office setting.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Supports the Human Resources Office to resolve routine human resources questions, interpret policies and procedures and recommends effective course of action;
- Answers employee questions concerning various human resources transactions pursuant to the individual’s collective bargaining agreement;
- Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Office;
- Prepares original correspondence to employees, human resources vendors and other clientele on a variety of issues;
- Assists with posting positions, coordination of interviews, and onboarding of new personnel;
- Coordinates recruiting, interviewing and hiring of substitutes in collaboration with the Director of Human
Resources; - Ensures all recommendations for substitutes meet the minimum educational requirements and fingerprint
requirements before recommending for board of education approval; - Responsible for all aspects of substitute mandatory trainings including tracking, recording and maintaining appropriate records;
- Coordinates and assists with exit interviews;
- Assists with conducting reference checks;
- Coordinates the hiring of summer school personnel with the summer school principals;
- Collaborates with the Director of Human Resources to develop and manage the District’s new employee orientation program and annual substitute training program;
- Coordinates District’s participation in and prepares supplies for recruitment fairs;
- Attends recruitment fairs with the Director of Human Resources;
- Updates required posters annually in buildings district-wide;
- May be involved in the collection and compilation of data for labor relations;
- Creates reports and analyzes data;
- Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the goals and responsibilities of this position and as directed by the Director of Human Resources.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of human resources management, principles and practices; working knowledge of public education personnel administration; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; strong interpersonal skills; strong organization and communication skills; excellent attention to detail; good judgement, tact and courtesy.
